Collegiate tops the class with two prestigious awards

We’re proud to announce that the team here at Collegiate has won two prestigious international accolades at the Class of 2020 Awards in Berlin.  We won the ‘Remarkable Brand’ and ‘Operator of the Year’ awards for our work and leadership in the Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) sector.

The Class of 2020 is an Amsterdam-based think tank that heads research and discussion on the future of living, learning and working in university cities. The Best in Class Awards were established in 2016 ‘in order to recognize, highlight and promote companies and initiatives at the forefront of living, working and learning.’

The awards ceremony took place in Berlin during the partner dinner and was attended by industry leaders in purpose-built student accommodation.  We were recognised as Operator of the Year, for our advice on over 500 student accommodation projects and forpioneering many industry practices in terms of design, systems and operations.

Feedback from our customers was also noted with 80% of students rating their accommodation as ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’, for the fourth year of continuous improvement.

We were also recognised as the ‘Remarkable Brand of the Year’ for the careful design of each of our developments and the high quality living spaces and support we offer in terms of the physical and mental wellbeing of students.   Our commitment to protecting and promoting mental health was also recognised through the launch of The Collegiate Charitable Trust, established to support a range of educational charities to ensure access and support is provided to students whenever they need it.

Eri Cuanalo, CEO of Collegiate, said of the awards; “It’s fantastic for Collegiate’s unique approach in designing living communities, focused on how a student will live in them, to be so generously recognised at this global conference.  Our philosophy is made possible by having an in-house architectural team that’s able to design projects to our vision before a single brick is laid, giving our operating team the opportunity to deliver excellence in the student experience.  Congratulations to everyone at Collegiate, this is what you’ve created and delivered.”

Eri continued; “Our growth is now focused on seeking project and development partners across Europe and beyond where we can support them to deliver product to Collegiate’s standards, which we acquire at completion wrapped in a Collegiate lease.  That will allow us to create more excellent student experiences faster across the world. “

Alan Blackmore, Collegiate’s Director of Residences, adds; “We are extremely proud to have received these two prestigious awards by the Class of 2020.  The awards are testament to the outstanding effort and dedication that our teams show on a daily basis in delivering the best student experience within our properties. I am pleased that all of this hard work is being recognised by sector experts, thank-you to all who have made this possible.”

The judges commented: “We would like to congratulate the team at Collegiate AC for winning two awards; The Class Remarkable Brand Award and The Class Best Operator of the Year Award. The jury found the former to be a ‘well-constructed approach to tenant’s needs’ and the latter had a great ‘attention to detail, and was flexible in its approach’”.

The panel of judges included; Rosemary Feenan, Executive Vice President Research, QuadReal Property Group; Paolo Petrocelli, Co-Founder & President, Italian Youth Association for UNESCO and Paloma Lisboa, Director of Student Residences, King’s College London.
